AUDIO HIGHLIGHTS: Altoona @ Trenton 5/31

Waterfront Park AerialBreak out the broomsticks, Trenton with a 4-1 win over Altoona on Sunday afternoon to sweep the three-game series and climb to within two games of the first place Connecticut Defenders in the Eastern League Northern Division.  Here are some of the highlights….

BOTTOM 1st – With Justin Snyder on first, an error on the first baseman Jason Delaney allowed Snyder to reach third base.  He would eventually score on a sacrafice fly by Chris Malec to put Trenton ahead 1-0.

TOP 3rd – Jason Delaney hit an infield single to score Angel Gonzalez from third base to tie the score at 1-1.
DELANEY RBI SINGLE

BOTTOM 6th – With two outs, Chris Malec recorded his second RBI of the day with a single to left field plating James Cooper and putting the Thunder on top 2-1.  The next batter Kevin Smith also tallied an RBI single, giving the Thunder a 3-1 lead.

WOW!!! What a dramatic night…..the Thunder trailed 3-1 heading into the bottom of the 8th inning, however a two-run double by Noah Hall with two outs in the 8th, and a walk-off two-run home run by Justin Snyder in the 9th gave Trenton a 5-3 victory on a gorgeous Saturday night at Waterfront Park.  Here are some of the highlights….

Top 5th – Altoona jumps on top 1-0 off a solo home run from Hector Gimenez.

Bottom 5th – Justin Snyder grinds out a two-out RBI single to tie the game at 1-1.

Bottom 8th – Noah Hall tied the game at 3-3 with a two-out, two-run double.
HALL RBI DOUBLE

Bottom 9th – Justin Snyder sent the Waterfront Park crowd home happy with a walk-off two run home run off Shawn Nottingham to give the Thunder a 5-3 victory.

….Trenton will go for the sweep tomorrow, an afternoon start time at 1:05 pm, check back after the game for audio highlights.

The Thunder returned home on Friday and started off the eight-game homestand with a 10-5 win over the Altoona Curve.  Here are some of the highlights….

Top 2nd – Altoona cracked the scoreboard first with back-to-back home runs from Jamie Romak and Miguel Perez.

Bottom 2nd – The Thunder responded as James Cooper and Colin Curtis recorded RBI singles all with two outs to tie the score at 3-3.

Bottom 5th – Trenton took the lead for good as Kyle Anson hit a bases-clearing RBI double that put the Thunder on top 6-3.

Delays due to Bronc difficulties…

So I was planning on releasing the debut edition of the ThunderCast this morning, however due to Rider’s loss last night in the first round of the MAAC baseball tourney, I am broadcasting the noon game today, which has thrown a serious wrench in my podcasting plans…..

Don’t fret though, the game should be over around 3 pm, and the podcast will be released shortly after, so stay tuned….
