Rough day for Ryan Pope. The right-hander has not won a game since May 13th and that streak continued today as Pope gave up a career-high 10 runs and 13 hits in the 12-2 Trenton loss. The 12-run output for the R-Phils is the most amount of runs Trenton has given up all season as every Phillies starter scored a run. Here are some of the highlights….
TOP 1st – Gus Milner led off the game for Reading with a single as he would eventually score on a sacrifice fly by Neil Sellers to put Reading on top 1-0.

TOP 2nd – The floodgates are officially open as a five run inning for the Phils puts them ahead 6-0. The most exciting highlight of the inning was an opposite field RBI double for Michael Taylor. The #6 prospect int he Phils organization continues his stellar season as he has driven in a team-high 56 RBI.

TOP 6th – Another five-run inning for Reading as the first six men of the frame all recorded base hits. Taylor racks up another base hit, his third of the game and eighth of the series. Taylor would eventually come around to score on a Neil Sellers RBI single. When the inning concluded, Reading had a commanding 12-0 lead.

BOTTOM 9th – Trenton finally gets on the board as Chris Malec hits a two-run home run and caps off a 4-for-4 day. Unfortunately I had already turned my recorded off due to the blowout status of the game so no audio on the play (sad face). Anyways, Malec’s fourth HR of the season makes it a 12-2 score in favor of Reading.
….back with more later in the week as we get things ready for a new ThunderCast which will be released on Friday.
